New Horizons in Skills Training: NAVTTC Signs Deal with Hazza Tech

A landmark agreement has been signed between NAVTTC and Hazza Institute of Technology in Beijing, marking a new chapter in vocational and technical training under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The initiative, endorsed by Minister for Planning and Development Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, aims to generate 1,000 new jobs over the coming years and build a workforce ready for the challenges of modern industry.

Highlighting the significance of this partnership, the Minister noted that the next phase of CPEC is centred on business-to-business cooperation and the industrial transformation of Pakistan. Under the banner of the Uraan Pakistan initiative, and inspired by China's proven vocational education model, the agreement represents a shared vision to transform Pakistan’s demographic advantage into economic strength.

Prof. Iqbal emphasised the urgency of preparing youth for a rapidly evolving global job market, shaped by artificial intelligence, robotics, big data, and green technologies. “Traditional jobs are vanishing,” he said, “but the Fourth Industrial Revolution rewards those skilled in innovation and adaptability.”

NAVTTC has already trained 1.5 million young Pakistanis, placing 70% of them in productive jobs and boosting their incomes by 30%. The Minister reiterated that investing in youth skills development is central to the government’s 5Es Framework under the Uraan Pakistan Program.

Through this strategic collaboration, both nations aim to create vocational centres of excellence embedded with AI and smart technologies. These centres will offer advanced training in fields such as renewable energy, IT, e-commerce, robotics, and manufacturing to prepare youth for high-demand sectors.

The agreement also includes student and faculty exchange programmes, technology transfer, and the creation of a sustainable manpower supply chain for Chinese employers both in China and globally.

Every rupee invested in skills development, the Minister said, not only yields a triple return to the economy but also restores hope, dignity, and self-reliance in Pakistan’s youth. This partnership is a transformative step towards equipping the next generation with tools to lead Pakistan into a prosperous, tech-driven future.
