Chinese Investors Eye Gwadar as Future Regional Economic Hub

A high-level Chinese business delegation, led by Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani and President of the Balochistan Economic Forum Sardar Shoukat Popalzai, held a meeting with Governor Balochistan Jafar Khan Mandokhail to explore new avenues of economic cooperation.

During the meeting, Governor Mandokhail underscored the transformative impact of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), describing it as a groundbreaking project with the power to end regional economic stagnation and reshape the destiny of neighbouring countries. He noted that for the first time, a private company, Blue View Mercantile, is investing in Gwadar, which will elevate CPEC to new levels of development.

The Governor emphasised that Balochistan must secure its lawful share in CPEC’s progress, particularly given the high-value land in Gwadar worth billions. Ensuring a fair stake, he added, is essential for generating meaningful profits for the provincial government.

Highlighting future prospects, Governor Mandokhail stressed that Gwadar’s growing ship-breaking industry is set to become a major economic hub. This sector, coupled with new investments, will attract more international partners and lay the foundation for a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan.
