China Grants Scholarships to 99 Gwadar Students in Key Fields

A major milestone in Pakistan-China educational cooperation was marked on April 29 as 99 students from Gwadar were awarded the prestigious “Chinese Consular Scholarship Program” at a ceremony held at the Gwadar Business Center. The initiative reflects the deepening bilateral ties between the two nations, especially in the field of academic development.

Out of the recipients, 30 were female and 39 male students from a diverse range of academic disciplines including MBBS, Pharm D, Civil Engineering, Sociology, Public Administration, Fine Arts, Fisheries, and more. These students hail from prominent institutions such as the University of Gwadar, the Pak-China Technical & Vocational Institute, University of Balochistan, and other educational centers in Balochistan and Sindh.

Chinese Consul General in Karachi, Yang Yundong, addressed the audience virtually and termed the event a remarkable step in empowering talented youth through higher education. He also reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Gwadar through additional initiatives including solar energy access, food security programs, health services, and further educational projects.

Among the attendees were Deputy Commissioner of Gwadar, Hamood Rahman Ranjha, and Mr. Liu Eho, Deputy General Manager of the Chinese Free Zone. The students expressed heartfelt appreciation to both local and Chinese authorities, especially thanking the Chinese Embassy for their crucial role in opening doors to educational advancement.

This scholarship program not only empowers individual students but also signals a broader commitment to sustainable human development in Gwadar, nurturing future leaders and professionals.
