Infrastructure & Tourism Boost: Gwadar Proposes Major Projects in New PSDP

The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has charted an ambitious course for the port city's advancement, proposing over ten crucial development projects for inclusion in the upcoming federal and provincial Public Sector Development Programmes (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2026-27. This strategic move aims to secure essential funding for a wide array of initiatives designed to enhance urban livability, economic activity, and tourism potential.

The comprehensive proposal list, as confirmed by a GDA official, targets fundamental urban infrastructure alongside community and recreational facilities. Key focus areas include feasibility studies and construction work for critical drainage, sewerage, and road networks across various sectors of Gwadar city. To bolster maritime connectivity and the local fishing economy, upgrades for the Pishukan and Surbandar jetties are also on the agenda.

Recognizing its coastal allure, the development plan emphasizes tourism with projects dedicated to coastal tourism and beach development. Furthermore, proposals for creating public parks and open spaces aim to improve the quality of life for residents. Specific institutional support is addressed through a project for housing dedicated to doctors at the GDA Hospital, while sports infrastructure is set for an upgrade with the proposed expansion of the Gwadar Cricket Stadium.

These development blueprints were recently reviewed and finalized in a high-level GDA meeting chaired by Director General Moin-ur-Rehman Khan. The finalized proposals are now set to be formally forwarded to the relevant federal and provincial government bodies for review, approval, and subsequent allocation of funds in the next fiscal year's development budget, marking a significant step in Gwadar's ongoing transformation.
