Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, held a pivotal meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the Ministry of IT to reinforce bilateral cooperation in the digital sector. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to collaborative innovation in areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), smart cities, and broader technological integration, paving the way for long-term strategic partnerships.
Ambassador Jiang underscored China's support for Pakistan’s digital transformation, emphasizing hands-on cooperation and ongoing knowledge exchange to drive innovation. The meeting reflects a renewed focus on mutually beneficial digital development and joint ventures in emerging tech fields.
Simultaneously, Minister Khawaja is representing Pakistan at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai, championing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s “Digital Nation Pakistan” vision. Her participation positions Pakistan as an emerging regional hub for AI innovation and digital transformation.
During the conference, Minister Khawaja met with Nepal’s Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, to discuss regional collaboration. The two leaders explored opportunities for digital capacity-building, connectivity, and the creation of an integrated digital ecosystem across South Asia.
Earlier in the week, Minister Khawaja also welcomed a delegation comprising officials from Arizona State University and Pakistan’s National Institute of Technology (NIT), highlighting her commitment to fostering international academic and research partnerships in technology.
