In a powerful reaffirmation of bilateral ties, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong called for enhanced unity and collaboration between China and Pakistan to build a brighter, shared future. Speaking at the high-level symposium, “Jointly Build the China-Pakistan Community with a Shared Future,” the ambassador emphasized the importance of standing together against common challenges and nurturing an all-weather strategic partnership.
Co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan and the Chinese Embassy, the event marked the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s historic 2015 visit to Pakistan—a pivotal moment that reshaped the China-Pakistan relationship through the launch of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The symposium was attended by influential figures, including Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, former ambassador Naghmana Hashmi, and senior political and academic leaders. Ambassador Jiang’s keynote address commemorated President Xi’s 28-hour visit, during which 51 agreements were signed, marking the elevation of ties to an “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.”
Ambassador Jiang praised the mutual respect and goodwill shared by both nations, recalling the overwhelming applause during President Xi’s address to Pakistan’s Parliament—over 50 rounds—which symbolized deep-rooted friendship. He reflected on a decade of growing cooperation, identifying five key pillars: strategic mutual trust, economic collaboration, people-to-people ties, robust security cooperation, and global multilateral advocacy.
He highlighted the transformative impact of CPEC on Pakistan’s infrastructure and energy sectors, the operationalization of Gwadar Port, and deepening trade links. Cultural ties were celebrated through increased student exchanges, cultural events, and joint media projects. In times of crisis—such as the COVID-19 pandemic and devastating floods—China’s support, including $260 million in aid, was acknowledged as a symbol of enduring partnership.
Looking ahead, the ambassador laid out strategic priorities: boosting strategic trust, aligning the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with Pakistan’s “5Es” development framework, deepening educational and security cooperation, and enhancing global collaboration.
As Pakistan and China near the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2026, Ambassador Jiang expressed optimism about the future, calling for sustained unity and shared development.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed echoed the ambassador’s sentiments, calling CPEC a “testament to China’s confidence in Pakistan’s future.” He praised President Xi’s historic address and underscored CPEC as a transformative force.
Former Ambassador Naghmana Hashmi emphasized that President Xi’s visit turned the dream of regional connectivity into reality. With significant progress in power, infrastructure, and strategic coordination, she stated, the visit became a milestone in regional development.
The event served not only as a commemoration but as a celebration of mutual respect, enduring cooperation, and a shared vision for the future. It reinforced the belief that the China-Pakistan bond, rooted in trust and strategic collaboration, will continue to flourish in the years ahead.
