Riphah International University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China's Shandong Tongshan Children Welfare and Development Center to strengthen Pakistan-China cooperation in education, youth development, cultural exchange, and community services.
The partnership aims to deepen people-to-people ties between the two countries by creating opportunities for students and young professionals to participate in joint educational initiatives, cultural exchanges, and volunteer programmes. The MoU was signed by Prof Dr Yawar Hayat Khan, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Riphah International University, and Li Xiao, Director of Shandong Tongshan Children Welfare and Development Center.
A key initiative under the agreement is the establishment of the China-Pakistan Youth Volunteer Services Team Center at Riphah International University, which will promote youth engagement, volunteerism, and collaborative community development programmes.
The signing ceremony was held in connection with the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. The event was attended by dignitaries, faculty members, and students.
The agreement builds on institutional ties developed during the recent official visit of Riphah International University Chancellor Hassan Muhammad Khan to China. In a further step towards strengthening bilateral institutional cooperation, Prof Dr Yawar Hayat Khan was also appointed Director of the Pakistan Office of Shandong Tongshan Children Welfare and Public Welfare Development Center.
