In a significant diplomatic engagement, Additional Secretary (Asia-Pacific) Ambassador Imran Ahmed Siddiqui held a meeting with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong during the 6th China-South Asia Cooperation Forum in Kunming. Both officials reaffirmed the enduring strength of the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, underscoring the vitality of their deep-rooted bilateral ties in the face of a rapidly evolving global and regional landscape.

The two sides engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views, focusing on strengthening strategic communication and coordination to navigate emerging global challenges and seize new opportunities for regional peace and prosperity. A key highlight of the dialogue was a renewed commitment to the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Agricultural technology, mining, industrial parks, offshore oil and gas exploration, environmental protection, and regional connectivity were identified as priority sectors for mutual cooperation. Both countries agreed to fast-track projects in these areas to promote inclusive growth and socio-economic development, including through third-party involvement in CPEC projects.

Additionally, the importance of maintaining momentum in high-level diplomatic exchanges was emphasised, with particular reference to the upcoming 6th Round of the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue at the foreign ministers' level. This dialogue is expected to further deepen mutual trust and broaden the scope of cooperation.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their dedication to multilateralism. They reiterated their shared resolve to align policies at international platforms, especially the United Nations, in pursuit of a rules-based, open, and inclusive international order grounded in the principles of the UN Charter.
