PM Shehbaz Emphasises Strong Ties with China and CPEC Growth


Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed on Monday that Pakistan and China share a time-tested friendship with global significance, where both nations continue to support each other. He noted China’s pivotal role in driving Pakistan’s economic and social progress.

During a meeting in China with Tianjin Binhai New Area delegation, led by Party Secretary Lian Maojun, the Prime Minister highlighted the vital contributions of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He said CPEC has transformed Pakistan’s energy sector and infrastructure, and in its second phase, greater focus will be placed on developing smart cities, agricultural cooperation, and next-generation technology industries.

The Prime Minister also commended the remarkable progress of Tianjin city under the leadership of President Xi Jinping. The meeting was attended by senior Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and PM’s Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, along with Chinese and Pakistani ambassadors.

During the briefing, it was shared that Binhai New Area is keen to strengthen trade with Pakistan, particularly in e-commerce, while also expanding its businesses and industrial footprint across the country.
