Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their strong resolve to further solidify their iron-clad and all-weather strategic partnership. This commitment was expressed during a warm and cordial meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated President Xi on the successful SCO Summit in Tianjin and extended felicitations on the 80th anniversary of the World’s Anti-Fascist War. He praised President Xi’s visionary leadership, which has guided China’s remarkable journey of modernization and progress, while assuring that Pakistan stands firmly alongside China in this shared pursuit.

Highlighting the enduring support from China for Pakistan’s sovereignty, integrity, and socio-economic development, the Prime Minister underlined the vital role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to ensuring the success of the upgraded CPEC second phase, which introduces five new corridors aimed at enhancing cooperation and development. Shehbaz also commended President Xi’s global initiatives, including the Global Governance Initiative, Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative, emphasizing their contribution to peace, stability, and collective global welfare.

President Xi reassured China’s continued assistance to Pakistan, particularly in priority economic sectors under the second phase of CPEC. Both leaders agreed on further expanding bilateral cooperation, reflecting the uniqueness of their relationship. They also exchanged views on key regional and international matters, pledging closer coordination in future.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz extended a cordial invitation to President Xi to officially visit Pakistan next year, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
