Rs310 Billion Allocated for Key CPEC Road Projects in Balochistan
The federal government has continued to accelerate infrastructure development in Balochistan by allocating more than Rs310 billion for nine major road projects being developed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Official figures show that over Rs163 billion has already been released and utilized, reflecting steady progress on projects aimed at improving regional connectivity and supporting economic growth.
According to official data, the nine road schemes received a combined allocation of Rs310.30 billion under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) between 2022-23 and 2026-27. During the same period, releases and expenditures reached Rs163.17 billion, demonstrating continued investment in western Pakistan's transport infrastructure.
Among the largest projects is the 330-kilometre Khuzdar-Kuchlak section of National Highway N-25, which received an allocation of Rs82.6 billion, with more than Rs40.67 billion already released and spent. Another Rs81 billion has been allocated for the Kararo-Wadh and Kuchlak-Chaman sections of N-25, where expenditures have reached Rs25.29 billion.
The Karachi-Kararo and Wadh-Khuzdar sections of N-25, spanning 273 kilometres, have received Rs63 billion in funding, with Rs33.54 billion already utilized. These projects are expected to improve road connectivity between southern Pakistan and Balochistan while supporting trade and freight movement.
Progress has also continued on the M-8 Motorway, where the 168-kilometre Awaran-Naal section received Rs26.03 billion, including Rs20.02 billion in releases and expenditures. The 146-kilometre Hoshab-Awaran section has been allocated Rs14.79 billion, with spending reaching Rs9.40 billion.
Additional infrastructure schemes are also moving forward. The 103-kilometre Nokundi-Mashkel Road received Rs7.84 billion, while the 22.7-kilometre Quetta Western Bypass on N-25 secured Rs6.91 billion. The 106-kilometre Basima-Khuzdar section of N-30 was allocated Rs13.55 billion, with nearly the full amount already released. Meanwhile, the 298-kilometre Zhob-Kuchlak section of N-50 received Rs14.58 billion, with expenditures reaching Rs8.43 billion.
The continued funding of these strategic road projects highlights the government's commitment to strengthening Balochistan's transport infrastructure under CPEC. Once completed, the upgraded highways and motorways are expected to improve regional connectivity, facilitate trade and logistics, enhance access to remote areas, and contribute to long-term economic development across the province.
