China and Pakistan have reinforced their economic and technological partnership through two major agreements signed during the 2nd China-Pakistan B2B Investment Conference in Beijing on September 9, 2025.
The first agreement, valued at 2.9 billion yuan ($400 million), involves the Chinese satellite company PIESAT assisting Pakistan in building an independent satellite constellation. This network will enhance real-time communications and remote sensing capabilities, contributing to disaster management, natural resource monitoring, and environmental protection. This collaboration follows PIESAT’s 2024 initiative supporting smart agriculture in Bahawalpur, highlighting sustained bilateral technological cooperation.
The second agreement establishes a $12 million joint venture between China’s MAYCOM Group and Pakistan’s TECNO Group to set up a fishmeal processing plant at Gwadar Port. The facility will process sardines and other Arabian Sea fish to produce feed-grade fishmeal and fish oil for aquaculture markets in southeastern China. The first phase aims to produce 15,000 tons annually with a $4 million investment, while TECNO Group will manage local production and resource procurement.
Beyond the fishmeal plant, the two companies plan to expand bilateral trade by exporting Pakistani agricultural products, including sesame, peanuts, and cottonseed, and importing Chinese energy products like solar panels and energy storage systems. These agreements underscore the growing economic and strategic partnership, emphasizing long-term collaboration in trade, technology, and industrial development.
