Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, currently on an official visit to China, held a series of high-level meetings with senior executives of major Chinese companies in Hangzhou on Sunday, aiming to strengthen economic cooperation and attract investment across key sectors in Pakistan.
As part of Pakistan’s broader engagement with China’s corporate sector, the Prime Minister met representatives from several leading Chinese firms, including Sheng Huo Neng Yuan Ke Ji Company, CATL, StarCharge, and Xiuzheng Pharmaceutical Group. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral business partnerships and exploring opportunities for industrial collaboration, clean energy investment, and technological development.
During his meeting with Agnes Siu, Chief Executive Officer of Sheng Huo Neng Yuan Ke Ji Company, discussions centered on cooperation in the renewable energy sector. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s growing renewable energy market and increasing demand for sustainable power solutions, particularly in the solar energy segment. He also outlined various government initiatives and policy reforms introduced to encourage investment and support the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure in the country.
The Prime Minister also met Oscar Luo, Executive President of CATL, one of the world’s leading battery manufacturers. Talks focused on advanced battery technologies, energy storage systems, and solar-linked energy solutions that could support Pakistan’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. Both sides discussed the importance of innovation and technological cooperation in strengthening Pakistan’s long-term energy security.
In another important meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held talks with Danwei Shao, Chairwoman of StarCharge Group. The meeting focused on electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the development of smart mobility systems in Pakistan. Discussions included opportunities for investment in EV charging networks and the role of modern transportation technologies in supporting sustainable urban development.
The Prime Minister also met Xin Yuan, President of Xiuzheng Pharmaceutical Group, where discussions revolved around pharmaceutical manufacturing, healthcare cooperation, and investment opportunities within Pakistan’s expanding medical sector. Both sides explored possibilities for establishing manufacturing facilities and increasing collaboration in healthcare-related industries.
According to officials, all meetings included detailed discussions on enhancing Chinese investment in Pakistan, setting up new industrial and manufacturing facilities, and expanding existing operations in the country. The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment through reforms aimed at improving ease of doing business and attracting foreign direct investment.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also underscored the significance of stronger business-to-business cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese companies, stating that economic partnerships between the private sectors of both countries would further reinforce the longstanding friendship and strategic relationship shared by Pakistan and China.
The visit is being viewed as part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to deepen economic engagement with China, particularly in sectors linked to renewable energy, electric vehicles, technology, healthcare, and industrial growth.
