CPEC Mega Project Holds Key to Regional Prosperity: Governor Mandokhel

Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhel has said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a transformative project with the capacity to end long-standing economic stagnation and reshape the future of adjoining countries.

He shared these views during a meeting with a Chinese business delegation led by President of the Balochistan Economic Forum, Sardar Shoukat Popalzai. Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Noshirwani, Pak Eco Marine Solutions Managing Director Raja Taimur Rehman, Blue Wave Mercantile Head Mr. Likui Liu, and other company representatives were also present.

Governor Mandokhel noted that for the first time, a private company, Blue Wave Mercantile (BWM), is investing in Gadani. He explained that this investment would not only enhance CPEC’s scope but also create significant employment opportunities by modernising the shipbreaking industry. With environment-friendly practices and modern skill development for the youth, Gadani could evolve into a major economic hub, attracting new investors and contributing to a stronger national economy.

The Governor emphasised that Balochistan must retain a substantial share of CPEC’s progress in accordance with the law. He highlighted the immense value of Gadani’s land, worth billions of rupees, and stressed that ensuring provincial benefit is crucial for long-term growth.

He also encouraged investors worldwide to explore Balochistan’s profitable opportunities across multiple sectors, including fisheries, agriculture, and livestock. The province’s coastal belt, he said, offers vast potential for fisheries development, while Chinese expertise can help modernise agriculture and livestock industries.

Governor Mandokhel reaffirmed the commitment of both federal and provincial governments to provide full protection to national and international investors. The meeting concluded with the exchange of gifts and a commemorative shield between the Governor and the visiting Chinese delegation.
