Pakistan, Afghanistan, and China are set to hold a trilateral meeting in Kabul tomorrow, marking the first time Afghanistan hosts such high-level discussions. The talks will focus on counterterrorism cooperation, regional connectivity, peace, development, and trade.
The meeting will be attended by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, along with senior officials from all three countries.
Throughout the day-long discussions, participants will address Afghanistan’s peace, security, and development while reviewing progress on previously agreed points from the last trilateral meeting held in Beijing on May 21. Key topics include the extension of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), efforts against terrorist organisations operating from Afghan soil, and strategies to strengthen regional security.
Later in the evening of August 20, the Chinese Foreign Minister will travel from Kabul to Islamabad to attend the annual Pakistan-China strategic dialogue, scheduled for August 21.
