Tarar Highlights Business Expansion and Innovation in CPEC

Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture Attaullah Tarar has said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has introduced fresh innovation within the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), marking the beginning of a new phase of economic engagement between Pakistan and China.

Speaking to the media, the minister noted that CPEC is entering a transformative era under the Prime Minister’s leadership. He highlighted the strong participation of more than 500 Pakistani and Shenzhen-based businessmen in a recent Business-to-Business (B2B) Conference held in Shenzhen, describing it as a significant development for bilateral trade and investment.

According to Tarar, Pakistan-China relations are progressing into a new chapter that will serve as a milestone for Pakistan’s economic stability and growth. He emphasized that direct interaction between private sectors of both countries through structured B2B engagements will enhance commercial linkages, encourage joint ventures and strengthen investor confidence.

The minister further revealed that discussions were held with the owner of a mobile phone manufacturing plant already operating in Pakistan. The company, he said, plans to export mobile devices from Pakistan, reflecting growing confidence in the country’s manufacturing ecosystem. Such initiatives are expected to contribute to export growth, job creation and technology transfer.

In addition to mobile manufacturing, talks were also conducted regarding electric vehicle (EV) production, signaling Pakistan’s intent to align with global trends in sustainable and green mobility solutions. The diversification into advanced manufacturing sectors highlights the evolving scope of CPEC beyond infrastructure development.

Tarar also shared that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet Chinese leadership in Beijing, further reinforcing high-level diplomatic and economic coordination between the two nations.

The developments underscore a broader strategy to leverage CPEC as a platform for industrial cooperation, private-sector engagement and technology-driven growth. With enhanced collaboration and targeted innovation, the government aims to accelerate economic progress and strengthen Pakistan’s position within regional and global value chains.
