alochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has welcomed the successful landing of South Air’s first test flight at the New Gwadar International Airport, describing the achievement as an important milestone for the province’s development, regional connectivity and economic progress.
In a statement shared on social media, the chief minister said the commencement of South Air’s operations would significantly improve air travel access to Gwadar and strengthen connections with key cities across Pakistan. He noted that modern and efficient air services would provide passengers with safer, faster and more convenient travel options while supporting the broader development objectives of the region.
According to the proposed flight network, Gwadar is expected to be connected with Turbat, Panjgur, Quetta, Sukkur, Lahore, Islamabad and several cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These routes are anticipated to enhance mobility, facilitate business activities and improve transportation links between Balochistan and other parts of the country.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that Gwadar has emerged as a key center for Pakistan’s economic growth, maritime trade and regional connectivity. He stated that the introduction of new air services would help unlock additional opportunities in tourism, commerce and investment while supporting the city’s transformation into a major economic destination.
The chief minister further highlighted that improved connectivity would contribute to job creation and strengthen local businesses by increasing the movement of people, goods and services.
