In a significant development for Gwadar’s growing economic landscape, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to launch two additional flights from Karachi to Gwadar starting this week. This milestone, achieved through the persistent efforts of Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, marks a strategic advancement in enhancing the region’s air connectivity.
Previously operating with only one flight, the new additions are expected to streamline travel and logistics between Karachi and Gwadar. In a public statement, the minister highlighted that the restoration of flights is a direct reflection of the Prime Minister’s commitment to a business-friendly approach. He emphasised that increased flight frequency will significantly support commercial activities, especially those linked to the Gwadar Free Zones and ongoing China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
Improved air access, according to the minister, is not only vital for boosting investment and trade but also essential for the convenience of port staff, business professionals, and the logistics sector operating in the region. This strategic move is projected to further economic stability and open new doors for sustainable development in the port city.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry concluded that the resumption of multiple flights marks the beginning of a new era in Gwadar’s economic transformation, reinforcing the government's top priority to facilitate growth, infrastructure, and timely project completion.
