Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan's full and unwavering support for the Global Development Initiative (GDI), describing it as a vital platform for solidarity, South-South Cooperation, and the delivery of concrete results for developing countries.
Speaking at a high-level meeting on the Global Development Initiative hosted by Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in New York, the Prime Minister emphasized that the goals of the GDI complement Pakistan's own national economic transformation plan. He noted that Pakistan's cooperation with China continues to strengthen through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and its flagship project, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is now entering its second phase.
The Prime Minister further stated that the GDI remains essential for accelerating progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He expressed Pakistan's eagerness to maintain close cooperation with Iron Brother China and fellow members of the Group of Friends to advance the shared vision of a community with a shared future for mankind.
