Gwadar Housing Schemes Approved for Major Infrastructure Upgrades


A steering committee headed by Commissioner Makran Division Dr. Tufail Ahmed Baloch has approved a comprehensive range of infrastructure and development measures for housing schemes in Gwadar, encompassing road construction, solar street lighting, machinery repairs, and other improvements designed to enhance civic facilities for residents.

The committee, which convened during the commissioner's two-day visit to Gwadar, also approved a reduction in development charges for the Manbar Housing Scheme from five percent to two percent. The meeting examined infrastructure and civic issues affecting several residential schemes, including New Town, Sangar, Manbar, Achar Housing Scheme, and the Balochistan Employees Housing Scheme. Discussions covered matters concerning roads, electricity, water supply, streetlights, parks, security arrangements, boundary walls, and fencing.

For the New Town Housing Scheme, the committee approved the construction of blacktop roads, installation of a solar lighting system, and repairs to machinery, along with other measures intended to improve essential facilities. For the Manbar Housing Scheme, the reduction in development charges from five percent to two percent was sanctioned.

Projects involving main gates, road construction, infrastructure upgrades, and related development work were also approved for Manbar, Achar Housing Scheme Ormara, and the Balochistan Employees Housing Scheme.

The committee further approved endowment funds for several social and welfare facilities in Gwadar, including the Women Market, Thalassemia Center, Drug Rehabilitation Center, and Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi Digital Library. This initiative aims to support the continued operation of these facilities and strengthen educational, welfare, rehabilitation, and community services, particularly for women and young people.

The meeting reviewed issues affecting Sangar, New Town, Manbar, and other housing schemes, including development and transfer charges, electricity and water supply, road networks, parks, boundary walls, fencing, streetlights, and security.

Commissioner Dr. Tufail Ahmed Baloch approved feasible proposals and directed the concerned departments and institutions to improve coordination for timely implementation of development schemes and resolution of residents' concerns. He emphasised that improving residential infrastructure and ensuring access to essential civic amenities were important components of Gwadar's broader development process, and he called for effective implementation of the approved projects.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Naqeebullah Kakar, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr. Abdul Shakoor, Gwadar Development Authority Chief Engineer Haji Syed Muhammad Baloch, Engineer Hamza Baloch, and other relevant officials.
