Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a significant meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in the federal capital, where both sides agreed to accelerate progress on the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, and the Foreign Secretary, reflecting the importance of the discussion.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz extended congratulations to the Chinese leadership on the successful convening of the “Two Sessions.” He also expressed gratitude to Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, and Wang Yi for their warm greetings on Pakistan Day.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s strong commitment to advancing CPEC Phase II, the prime minister highlighted the need for enhanced collaboration in key sectors such as agriculture, industrial development, and infrastructure. He emphasized that these areas are critical for driving sustainable economic growth and regional connectivity.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong appreciated Pakistan’s economic resilience and ongoing reform efforts, reiterating China’s continued support for expanding cooperation in trade and investment. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the momentum of high-level exchanges and agreed to further strengthen bilateral engagement as Pakistan and China commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations.
The discussion also touched on the regional situation, where Prime Minister Shehbaz underscored Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting de-escalation and regional stability. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining close coordination with China and further strengthening the long-standing strategic partnership between the two nations.
