Pakistan, China Strengthen Educational Cooperation Through AIOU Partnership

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with TANG Chinese International Education & Technology (Pvt.) Ltd. to strengthen academic cooperation and promote skills-based and technology-driven education between Pakistan and China. The partnership marks another step toward expanding educational collaboration while preparing students with globally competitive knowledge and practical expertise.

The agreement was signed by AIOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood and TANG China CEO Mr. Song Jianying. Under the collaboration, both institutions will work on developing joint academic programs, facilitating faculty and student exchange initiatives, promoting Chinese language education, conducting collaborative research, delivering advanced skills training and enhancing university-industry partnerships.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood emphasized that modern technology and practical skills are essential for empowering future generations. He noted that universities must equip students with quality education, industry-relevant competencies and international exposure to help them succeed in an increasingly competitive global economy. He added that the partnership would support the introduction of innovative academic programs aligned with evolving workforce demands.

The Vice Chancellor also expressed optimism about establishing a Chinese Language and Culture Centre at AIOU, complementing the university's existing language centers dedicated to Turkish, Japanese and Russian. He said such an initiative would further strengthen educational, cultural and people-to-people connections between Pakistan and China while reinforcing the longstanding friendship shared by the two nations.

CEO Mr. Song Jianying described AIOU as an ideal partner for advancing technology-oriented and skills-focused education in Pakistan. He expressed confidence that the collaboration would create new opportunities in education, research and technological innovation while helping young people acquire internationally recognized skills. Dr. Saima Nasir, Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell, added that the agreement reflects AIOU's commitment to expanding global academic partnerships and creating valuable international opportunities for students and faculty alike.
