Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the importance of adopting advanced Chinese technologies to tackle natural calamities, noting their potential benefits for Pakistan. During his visit to Tianjin University’s National Facility for Earthquake Engineering Simulation, he expressed confidence that learning from China’s expertise would help Pakistan build preventive strategies and effective disaster management frameworks.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to activate key initiatives such as the International Medical Centre and the China-Pakistan Joint Lab to strengthen cooperation in handling emergencies. He also reaffirmed that the government is actively responding to recent floods by dispatching relief supplies to affected families across Punjab, including Narowal, Sialkot, Wazirabad, Hafizabad, Chiniot, and Jhang. The aid will be coordinated with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority to ensure timely support.
PM Shehbaz directed the NDMA to maintain close coordination with provincial authorities and pledged continued relief efforts for flood-hit communities. During the visit, he was briefed on disaster response and medical rescue technologies, including innovative rescue vehicles and safety solutions. He was informed about ongoing collaborative projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, including the China-Pakistan Joint Lab for Disaster and Emergency Medicine, the International Medical Cooperation Center, and the China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital. These initiatives reflect the growing partnership between both countries in strengthening resilience against natural disasters.
