Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Pakistan on August 21 to co-chair the sixth round of the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Office confirmed.
This high-level dialogue marks another milestone in the deep-rooted partnership between Pakistan and China, which spans trade, energy, defense, and infrastructure. The fifth round was held in May 2024 in Beijing, where Wang Yi and Ishaq Dar co-chaired the discussions.
The upcoming Islamabad dialogue will focus on reaffirming both countries’ support on core issues, expanding trade and economic cooperation, and reinforcing joint commitments to peace, development, and stability in the region.
Wang Yi’s visit to Pakistan comes immediately after his diplomatic engagement in India, where he met with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. During the meeting, he emphasized the need for China and India to view each other as partners and maintain peace along their shared border.
In recent months, both Pakistani and Chinese leaderships have remained in close contact. In July, Ishaq Dar and Wang met at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation event, reaffirming cooperation in agriculture, mining, industry, and security. Earlier in February, President Asif Ali Zardari met Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing to further consolidate the strategic cooperative partnership.
The Foreign Office noted that Wang Yi’s visit reflects the continuity of regular high-level exchanges and the enduring vision of building a China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
