President Asif Ali Zardari has given his approval to the Anti-Dumping Duties Amendment Bill 2025, making the new provisions legally binding. According to the President Secretariat’s Press Wing, the amendment will apply retroactively from 1 July 2020, following its passage in both the National Assembly and the Senate.
The bill introduces legal clarity on the imposition of anti-dumping duties, specifically concerning projects funded through Chinese grants, ensuring greater transparency in trade and investment regulations. Officials highlighted that the move reflects Pakistan’s commitment to fair trade practices while strengthening its economic collaboration with China.
The decision to push forward with this legislative amendment was first discussed during the progress review meeting of Gwadar projects in October 2022, underscoring Gwadar’s central role in trade, development, and strategic cooperation.
