Gwadar Moves Closer to Integrated Citywide Surveillance System

Gwadar’s urban security infrastructure is moving forward with the completion of underground cable networks and installation of surveillance poles at key locations across the city.

The infrastructure work is part of the Gwadar Safe City Project, which will enter its next phase with the installation of advanced security cameras. Estimated at Rs3.326 billion, the project also includes the construction of a central Safe City complex and a dedicated Command-and-Control Centre.

Project Director Dr. Asif Khan Bareach briefed Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Director General Moin ur Rehman Khan on the latest progress of the initiative, including ongoing construction activities and preparations for upcoming phases.

Once the central control facility is completed, surveillance cameras installed at strategic locations across Gwadar will be connected through an integrated digital network. The system will enable continuous monitoring of important areas and provide a centralised platform for managing the city’s security infrastructure.

The GDA chief highlighted the importance of modern security infrastructure for Gwadar as the city continues to develop its role as a centre for investment, trade and economic activity. He directed the relevant departments to accelerate ongoing work and ensure the project is completed within the required timeframe.

The Safe City initiative is also expected to complement the existing Perimetric Security System established around Gwadar Port, its associated infrastructure and the northern and southern Free Zones.

Together, these security measures are aimed at creating a more integrated surveillance environment across key urban, commercial and strategic areas of Gwadar, supporting the city’s continued development and growing economic importance.
